Book choice

While at the library the other day I decided to check-out the book "At Home on Ladybug Farm" by Donna Ball. This is her blog  http://www.donnaball.net/ for which it's fun to know there are other Ladybug Farm books to read. I think I may become a Ladybug Farm lover/fan :)

One of my sister's is on chat with me tonight and told me about this author who has good books too...http://www.murdershebaked.com/books.htm

I have enjoyed Mignon F. Ballard's books and the first one I read was "The Angel and the Jabberwocky Murders" which got me into reading the other ones that go along with it.

I like when books include recipes also. I love to read!! It takes me away from the worries and stress that life can toss my way at times.

Thanks for stopping by. It's been awhile since I've done any blogging.

Just a quick post

I wish I had more time to blog. I just want to share quickly the beautiful sunset we had out our front door one evening and also pix of the yummy crockpot apple crumble/crisp I made. I will go through my older FB posts and find the source of where I found the recipe and I'll edit this post with the link to give credit to the blogger.

Had to have it with vanilla bean ice cream...YUM!

The picture isn't as wonderful as the real thing, but you can see enough to know how beautiful it was....
Thanks for visiting my blog:)

Garden and Sewer line

Yay!!! Our garden is growing...woot woot!!These sunflowers are the "mystery plant in the first garden box we weren't sure for awhile what the plant was, ha ha:) Some little birdie must have dropped some seeds in that spot from a neighbor because it's a totally different sunflower than the ones we planted.

This is our friendly neighbors peach tree and they tell us what hangs over the fence on our side, pick 'em...cool, very nice!
Oh my goodness we LOVE the tomatoes we're getting off of this plant, they are soooo yummy!!!
We haven't tried tomatoes from our second plant, they are just starting to show signs of turning red. Can't wait...yum oh yumm-oh!! We have mozzerella cheese and fresh garden basil so tomorrow I plan to go to the store for some hard crust bread (like french) and make these yummy sandwiches that usually are just the cheese and basil with garlic, but I think a tomato on them would be great too! You brown the bread/ sandwich in a pan.Like a grilled cheese, but better!!

These are our mammouth sunflowers. Love 'em!!

This is from the other day.Hubby changed the sewer line down in the basement because the old 1941 iron pipe had corrosion, see? Disgusting!!
PVC, it looks much better although I wish it wasn't black because it makes it harder to look for spiders on it...I know, laugh all you want, but I acknowledge my fears.

And, we took a trip to the dump to drop off the ugly gross pipe. Yay!! Although I can't stand the dump. Yuk:(

Just some pretty scenery. btw, I LOVE the smell of the mint fields!!!

Sunflowers,garden and basement

These are the smaller varieties.

This sunflowers variety is "Mammoth". Sorry photo is blurry (hubby took it).

Took out the old cabinet that was in the basement. Lots of work to do, just taking it one day at a time.

Do you see the little zucchini?

Garden

Our first tomato ripening...

we should have plenty of tomatoes!! This next pic is our mysterious plant.... (Update 8-3) The mysterious plant is a sunflower variety the birds must have planted. It's a totally different sunflower than the ones I've planted.

We  picked green beans, peas , and a few basil leaves. .
